Katmai isn't a traditional video call. Instead of arranging video tiles in a grid, it renders a live 3D space and places everyone's video inside it, continuously, while you move around. That's closer to running a video game than a standard video call, so it asks more of your graphics, processor and memory.

We're continually optimizing Katmai to run well on a wider range of hardware. We also have four performance modes you can pick at sign-in.
